On April 7, 2004 the Center for Performing Arts was established
in the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University with assistance
from the Goethe Institute. The establishment was a given a go
ahead after the Ministry of Information and Culture, the
Ministry of Higher Education and the Kabul University all agreed
to it’s vital importance and performers from Kabul and other
provinces gave positive reviews about it. The center’s
activities will focus on providing education and training to
theatre workers and enthusiast on the national level, the Center
for Research on Theatrical Affairs and Performing Arts and
archiving and translating Afghan Dramas for the development of
Afghanistan’s theatre and also for coordinating theatrical
activities in the country after years of war which has left the
country’s artist isolated from international and national
developments in the field. More particularly, the center’s
