Baghlan Theatre Among the active theatres located in Baghlan province is Saam Cinema and Theatre Group. In the previous festivals they performed two plays: Nothing The subject concerned a 12th grade graduate who works as a school teacher. The play had 3 characters and was directed by Mr. Lutfullah Ehsaas. Jack of All Trades Written and directed by Mr. Lutfullah Ehsaas, the play had one main character. The theme was to show the making of a festival and the research leading up to it. Other characters included Lutfullah Ehsaas, Sher Mohammad Muradi, Abdul Waheed Darwesh, Hakeemullah Hakeemi, Navid Muradi, Habeeb-Ur-Rahman Humdard and Bakhtyaar Nejat.
Herat Theatre Herat is one of the provinces in which theatre has grown well. Theatre in Herat started in 1946 and in 1922 a play was performed in Mirza Khan Garden for the first time. In 1947 when “Pohani Nindarey” of Kabul went to Herat under the direction of Salahuddin Saljuqi, the official theatre of Herat Province was named “Pohani Nindarey of Herat”. Pohani Nindarey members who went to on a trip to Herat province were: Ustaad Abdul Raseed “Jalia”, Nek Mohammad Qabil, Abdul Latif Nishat, Malek Khel, Mohammad Akram Naqqash, Ghulam Omer Shakir, Abdul Rahman Bina, Ghula Ali Omed, Ahmad Zia and Ghafoor Khazani. They also performed a play by the name of “TemChi”. The official theatre of Herat province started its work in 1942 under the direction of Mr. Abdul Wahid “Bahra”. These are the first actors of Herat Theatre: Abdul Raheem Sarkhush, Mohammad Alishah Ulfat Herawee, Mohammad Mahdi Nasrat, Sabir Herati, Muhsin Saber Herawee, Abdul Baqee Akhwat and Noor Ahmad Jahid. After 4 years, direction was given to Mr. Mohammad Ali “Zarra” who developed theatre in Herat province in his 3 years of work there. Plays performed by Herat province theatre in festivals: Creeps: Written and directed by Mr. Askar Zahd. It is about corrupt clerks. Kandahaar Theatre
Theatre in Kandahaar has its roots in folkloric plays and poems. Kandahaar has “The Theatre of Intellectuals” and “Naatak” plays. Theatre of Intellectuals The Kandahaar Theatre is also called Theatre of Intellectuals. All the plays performed in the theatre are played by the students of Ahmad Shah Ba Ba High School and were directed by Jan Mohammad “Plaar” until Abdulghani Qala Beki took charge. Mr. Qala Beki was an open minded man who wanted to use theatre against the darkness of the society. Kandahaar theatre started its work in 1941 in the hands of Mr. Jan Mohammad “Plaar.” Other members were Ghulam Nabi Haqeeqi, Daud Muslim and Fazil Mohammad Fazlee. Most of the plays were authored by Mr. Plaar and Abdul Raheem Nangyalai. Mr. Plaar was also in charge of decoration, lights and make up. Shuhaab Theatre of Kandahaar has performed plays in the last two festivals: Afghanistan is the Home of All Afghans Directed by Mr. Namatullah Nalan, the play was about strengthening and uniting the Afghan public. Lawang Ba Ba is Also a Doctor Directed by Mr. Namatullah Nalan, the play was about simple people. Kandahaari Nindarey also has activities in Kandahaar. Shiberghan Theatre Theatre activities in Shiberghan province have increased and improved, especially after a few famous artists, like Mr. Besud, moved there.
